PS3 media server commonly transcodes non-ps3 compatible files to MPEG2.
MPEG2 playback might be broken in recent versions as per this thread[[https://www.lonelycoder.com/redmine/boards/15/topics/4234]]:
Is there any particular reason you are using PS3 media server (with transcoding/remuxing) rather than just using the standard SMB (windows) networking/bookmark system already included in Showtime?
It seems to be a waste of CPU cycles on your PMS server.

oh thanks so i checked showtime version in multilman and indeed it's older 3.5.44 so that may be the mpeg2 bug...
well i didn't know showtime supported smb... BUT actually i already tried to use that bookmark system but didn't understand how it works :s
someone can help me with that? i even heard something about nethost feature in multiman but i don't think it will work after starting showtime... arghhh a proper ntfs driver for the ps3 would be a major step forward
btw is there a way to force showtime use cp1252 and another font? font.ttf and font.otf

1) Set your PC to use a static IP address -> showtime does not have hostname resolution at the moment, so you must specify an IP address.
If it's a laptop, and you move it around to different peoples networks often, you should get into your router setup and set the DHCP router to reserve an IP address for the MAC ADDRESS of your network connection.
Otherwise;
Just open your control panel, network & sharing center, on the right are your network connections, click the one you are using (might be wireless). The new window pops up.
Click details, and copy them down.
Mine are as follows, but yours WILL be different:-
IPv4: 192.168.10.100
IPv4 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.10.1
IPv4 DNS Servers: 8.8.4.4 (Google) , 192.168.10.1
Click close.
Click properties-> Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) -> click ":Use the following IP address
Type in YOUR information that you recorded.
**It's worth changing the last number in your IPv4 address to something like 200, so that you don't get a DHCP conflict if your router assigns someone else your address. The bit that you need to change is underlined above.
2) Share your movies/music folders on your PC -> make sure you password protect the share (there was another thread recently that indicated that showtime could not connect to unprotected shares).
At this point it's worth typing into the explorer address bar: \\(your IP Address) to see whether it's shared OK, and what the shared folders are named. It probably won't ask you for a username and password, because windows automatically tries to connect with your user details.
3) Connect a USB keyboard to your PS3 temporarily.
4) Start showtime, navigate to the bookmarks section, add bookmark.
Choose a name, choose a picture, type in:
smb://(your computers ip address)/*your folders*
Repeat as needed.
Done. You can remove the keyboard now.
The first time you connect, it will ask for your username and password ... make sure you type it correctly. If you don't type it correctly, showtime might not ask you again, and you'll have to delete the keyring in showtimes game folder using the multiman file explorer (or similar).
Your favorites/bookmarks are retained after upgrading/downgrading versions of showtime on the proviso that you DON'T uninstall/delete showtime.
In the event that you absolutely need to uninstall showtime, you can backup the showtime bookmarks/keyring using a the multiman file manager, ftp ... however you want .. and just put them back after reinstalling showtime.
