Hi,
If anyone currently owns a Samsung TV with Anynet feature, well, you can use TV remote to control PS3.
Step 1: Go to Settings in PS3 and Turn on the feature "Control for HDMI"
Step 2: Turn on Anynet on Samsung TV. Now the TV should automatically detect PS3 and display a notification on the screen.
For my Plasma C7000, the control button on TV remote limits only to up/down/left/right. I don't know how much Samsung supports this feature in other TVs generation. If you have one, it's worth a try
