Description
I don't have any decoder on my system but tvheadend discovers many encrypted channels and these appear in the services list as the majority amongst the FTA services I want to enable as channels. The encrypted / FTA status of a channel isn't visible in the services grid so I have to effectively try to view each channel in order to determine if the channel is encrypted.
Would it be possible to have an "ignore encrypted channels when adding new services" type option on each adapter which will only add channels if they are Free To Air? Failing that at least have a new cell in the services grid which shows whether the channel is encrypted or not. The former would be the preferred option as I guess determining whether the channel is encrypted takes longer, something which I'm happy to have but other may not.
Thanks,
Neil.

When you press the "Map services to channels" button Tvheadend will try to determine if it can decrypt any channel that is currently flagged as encrypted. When there are no CWC servers defined, and there are no capmt configurations, it will very quickly determine it can not decode the service and will not map it to a channel.
This discovery process is very quick and having a "ignore encrypted service" option will not make it significantly faster.
Also keep in mind that the encrypted indicator of a service can be changed at anytime. Even after it has been mapped to a channel. (for example .. an sports event might cause an otherwise FTA channel to switch to encryption for the duration of the event)

I'm going to close this for now, based on what Hein has said. However I'm not convinced his assessment is entirely accurate I'm pretty sure that a couple of "encrypted" channels slip through on my own system when I tried a fresh setup recently.
I may try looking into this, but if its wrong I'll submit a bug request.
