I dont know if srt subs work inside MKV

What does not work? You need to be a bit more specific. Lots of users say that SRT works.

it totally do not display subtitles （external SRT）
tested with V299.284 and V299.275
it work inside MKV (tested with V299.275)

Is the SRT filename 100% same as the movie filename?

yes,SRT filename 100% same as the movie filename,showtime recognized external srt subs but not show it

Andreas,
Amazing work by the way.
I noticed that subtitles stopped displaying half way through the movie.
I suspected the specials chars, long filename, etc.
Then I took a look at the SRT file and found an empty line at 120 (see below).
The subtitles stop displaying immediately.
I think this may related to this bug report?
